Community Sharps Management

NIRW supports Councils with the safe and effective management of sharps in the community through a Community Sharps collection and safe disposal program. NIRW are proud to be a collaborative leader with this project and working with Hunter New England Local Health District in the safe collection and disposal of community sharps across our region.

Safe Sharps Disposal Locations

Community Sharps Disposal bins are located throughout our region for your convenience. Find a Safe Sharps Disposal location through the Safe Sharps website, a project initiative of the Riverina Eastern Regional Organisation of Councils (REROC), supported by Diabetes NSW and the NSW Ministry of Health.

This project aims to assist sharps users to find the most convenient location to dispose of their sharps safely. The online facility allows users to submit a location address and then search for the locations of single needle disposal points, sharps container disposal points or find sellers of sharps containers.

Find Safe Sharps Disposal Locations here or download the Safe Sharps App.
